Paint your own Delft Blue

Experience the craft of Delft Blue yourself during one of the workshops at Royal Delft Museum. Discover how the world-famous Delft Blue is made and paint your own tile for your home.

The painting workshops take place every week from Tuesday to Sunday at 2:00 PM. The workshops are suitable for children aged 7 and up. We recommend booking online and in advance, as we have a limited number of spots available each day. For groups of up to 24 people, you can also reserve online. If you would like to attend a painting workshop with more people, please email events@royaldelft.com.

After the tile, plate, or Vermeer house has been painted, it will be glazed and fired in our factory, a process that takes approximately 5–6 weeks. Starting January 1, 2025, the price includes shipping within the Netherlands. For shipments within Europe, an additional fee of €8 applies. For shipping outside Europe there is an additional fee of €27. The additional fee can be paid upon arrival at the museum. Pick-up in the museum is not possible.

Traditional tile painting workshop

€45.50 per person, including shipping, excluding museum entrance.

Would you like to paint your own Delft Blue tile wisdom? It is possible during the painting workshop! Choose one of the Royal Delft designs or make a design yourself. You paint a tile with the traditional black paint. When fired, the color changes to the well-known Delft Blue.

Traditional plate painting workshop

€ 60.50 per person, including shipping, excluding museum entrance

Dates for 2025: May 25, July 26, September 21
(During the booking process, you can select the correct date to book the plate painting workshop.)

During the painting workshop, you can decorate your own plate! Choose one of the Royal Delft decorations or create your own design. You will paint a plate (20 cm in diameter) using traditional black paint. After firing, the color will transform into the well-known Delft Blue.

Once the plate is painted, it will be glazed and fired in our factory, a process that takes approximately 5-6 weeks. From January 1, 2025, the price includes shipping within the Netherlands. For shipping within Europe, an additional fee of € 8 applies. For shipping outside Europe, the fee is € 27. This surcharge can be paid upon arrival at the museum and covers the shipment of up to 25 tiles to a single address. Unfortunately, pickup is not possible.

Children tile painting workshop

€35.50 per person, including shipping, excluding museum entrance.

This workshop is especially for children from 7 to 12 years old and can only be booked in combination with a traditional tile painting workshop . A parent or responsible person must always be present during the painting workshop.

DIY tile painting workshop

€ 34.50 per person (museum entrance excluded and only bookable for groups with a minimum of 10 persons)

This workshop differs from the regular painting workshop because blue paint is used. This means you can take your tile home immediately afterwards.
