Open Atelier Painting workshop

Would you like to paint a vase, a plate in a different size, or something completely unique? Join our next Open Atelier and take the time to create your own one-of-a-kind piece in a relaxed and inspiring setting. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced painter, everyone is welcome!

Our Open Atelier will take place during the weekend of 31 October and 1 November. Participation starts from €30.00 per person*.

You can start painting anytime between 10:00 AM and 2:30 PM, and Open Atelier ends at 4:00 PM. Be sure to arrive on time to avoid disappointment.

Happy with your creation? We will glaze and fire your artwork in our kilns. Within a few weeks, your unique Delft Blue creation will be delivered to your home by post.

Please note:

*The participation fee for the Open Atelier does not include admission to the museum.

Reserve Your Biscuit in Advance

New this year: you can book your favourite item in advance. This way, you are guaranteed the item you would like to paint during the Open Atelier Weekend.

The Open Atelier selection includes a wide range of vases, plates and other ceramic objects. Prices vary per item and start from €30.00. View the 2026 selection in the image alongside this text or via this link.

How to reserve your spot:

1. Click the ‘Book here’ button below.
2. Select your preferred date: Saturday 31 October or Sunday 1 November.
3. Choose your favourite biscuit now. If your favourite biscuit is no longer listed among the available tickets, it is unfortunately sold out online. There is no need to contact us by phone or email. We have kept a limited number aside for the weekend itself, so you are still very welcome to visit the Open Atelier.
4. Planning to come with others? We recommend booking your biscuit items together in one order. Have you booked separately? Please email the different order confirmations in advance to info@royaldelft.com, so we can try to seat you together. Are you coming with a group of 6 people or more? Please always send us an email, so we can take this into account.
5. Completed your order and received your confirmation by email? Your spot for Open Atelier 2026 is now reserved!

Exclusive: Learn from a Master Painter

On Saturday between 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, our Master Painter will be on hand to offer personal guidance, practical tips and professional techniques, giving you the unique opportunity to learn directly from a true master of the craft.

Shipping & Collection

Finished painting? You can choose to have your creation shipped or collect it in person.

Once you’re happy with your painted piece, we will glaze and fire it in our kilns. After that, you can either have it shipped to your home or collect it at the museum.

Collection

You can collect your finished piece during our Blue Friday Weekend, from Friday 27 November through Sunday 29 November, at the museum reception. Unfortunately, earlier collection is not possible.

Shipping

Your piece can be shipped approximately 5–6 weeks after Open Atelier for an additional fee. ( €8.50 within The Netherlands, €14.50 within Europe and €33,- outside Europe excluding the United States*)

*Shipping to the United States starts at €65,-, depending on the size and type of the item.

Visit the Museum

You’ve experienced the craft, now discover the story behind it.

After creating your own Delft Blue masterpiece during Open Atelier, complete your visit with a tour of our museum. Discover the rich history of this centuries-old craft and watch our painters at work in the factory.

All Open Atelier participants receive an exclusive €3 discount on museum admission. Admission is free upon presentation of a Museum Card, Rotterdampas or Ooievaarspas.

The first 50 people to book their spot for Open Atelier at September 15th at 10:00 AM will receive free museum admission during the Open Atelier weekend.
